Re: What do you want to see in the next update

Another wish for the Rhino plugin (and Composer too, in the Rhino environment):

Export/save selected objects only to PDF. This would save a lot of time with switching off layers and hiding unwanted objects before saving out a PDF.

3D PDF - Thumbnail Image

I've installed the Rhino plugin on my new workstation and all seems to work fine (thanks to the Simlab crew for helping to sort out my licensing issues!) with one small exception: My PDF's don't have a thumbnail view in Windows Explorer. All I see is a blank white rectangle. When I open the PDF, tha...

Re: Viewing Sections in Acrobat Reader XI 3D PDF

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one having a problem with this. As a workaround, I've found that if I add planes to the model, and use them as the target surfaces for Acrobat Readers 'Align to Face' in Cross Section Properties, the section sticks. It's not ideal as you then have to hide the...

Secure PDF

I have been asked by a client if I can save out PDFs that can be opened, viewed & if need be measured without needing a password, but at the same time are secure in the sense that they can't be commented, edited or imported into another application.

Is this possible with Simlab products?

Viewing Sections in Acrobat Reader XI 3D PDF

I'm having problems when viewing a 3D PDF saved from a Rhino model using the Simlab plugin. When I enable Cross Section and call up the Cross Section Properties panel, I can make dynamic sections in any plane without a problem and it all looks good. However, a couple of seconds after I release the O...

Re: What do you want to see in the next update

First of all, something that isn't an intrinsic part of the software - a clear Simlab explanation/product differentiation matrix for the 3D PDF for Rhino versus Composer c/w Rhino plugin, explaining why you would chose one product over the other. I posted on this subject about a year ago, but there'...

Text and Dimension Display

Wish: When the text, lines and dimensions export option is selected, please give an option to save them out just as displayed in the Rhino file. This includes: - Font, font size and alignment to dimension lines - Text scales with the model rather than being shown as text 'dots' (in Rhino-speak) that...

Re: How to get a simply model hierarchy?

+1 for this request. I'm working collaboratively on a large project & I'm trying (successfully, so far :) ) to promote the use of 3D PDF as a means of distributing information to team members that don't have CAD capability. When doing this, keeping the interface clean and simple is essential - i...

Re: Templates

Yes, a blank template would be useful. TBH, the supplied templates are of no use to me, though they do show what's possible. Is there a tutorial available to show how to create custom templates? On the subject of custom templates, is it possible to create a two-colour 'fade' background for the 3D ar...

Re: 3Dpdf zoom without a mouse

Ctrl + '+' or '-' does it here. Ctrl + Shift + '+' or '-' has an interesting effect - I'm not sure what it's trying to do though!

Still looking for the keyboard shortcut for pan....
