Nope, didn't use T-splines just basic solidworks surfacing tools.

I'm using Solidworks so no access to UV-mapping. The wrapping edge is modeled and the perforations + leather grain are done with bump and opacity maps (just box mapped in composer).

Good renders, the sea is very convincing in the second shot. Using a circular water mesh helps to make the horizon natural. I usually use sky hdr's cropped to lower the horizon under sea level.
