Re: Cannot bring opacity map to work

Hi SimLab,

thanks for your clarification. When it is not supported by WebGL and 3D PDF, your strategy perfectly makes sense to me. May I please just suggest that you should mention this in the manual, so that users are aware about this limitation.

thanks

Re: Cannot bring opacity map to work

Hi Tesselaar, thanks for your reply. Yes I know and my workstation is fast enough ;) I'd just suggest to have it visible because it's not really obvious why the opacity map stays invisible while all other maps are effective, also I have a lot of objects using the same material either solid or fenced...

Re: Cannot bring opacity map to work

Found an example in the demo library of SLC (Office/Penholder), that seemed not to work either. This made me suspicious that I'm missing something here - in fact it turns out, that the opacity map only affects the render output, but does not show up in the scene. Not sure if this is a bug or a featu...

Please think of a new way to manage Material Libraries

Dear Simlab, the material library management is a total mess. It's apparently impossible to set up a nice folder structure and fill it with the wanted materials. Merging libraries leaves unpredictable results, removing libraries crashes SLC, leaving behind a total mess of material libraries. This ki...

Cannot bring opacity map to work

Dear all, how can I apply an opacity map to a material so that it works? The manual does not specify what kind of graphic format is required, I've tried png/8-bit grayscale/24bit rgb and jpg but nothing works. Also, I downloaded the wood- and ceramics materials but they have no example for an opacit...

Re: Rhino 3dm layers lost and request for a Rhino FBX plugin

Hi Micha, there is only a limited support for Rhino block definitions: - the layer structure within a block is not supported - nested blocks are not supported (they are exported as a single geometry object) - mirrored blocks come up black. I reported this issue already years ago (since SLC 7) but it...

Re: Loosing materials

Hi Tesslaar,

thanks for your reply. Placing the material library into the same folder of the project is a good idea. However, this does not explain the inconsistent loss of the materials. Even during your work, a material suddenly disappears. This did not happen with SLC 7.

best greetings

Loosing materials

Dear SimLab, since SLC 9 I'm regularly experiencing a loss of assigned materials, when the file is reopened again. In the attached picture you see an example - to the left you see how the file is saved, and to the right how it looks when it is opened again. There is one material completely missing i...

Re: uv materials

Thanks for sharing your solution! I did not know that the material tab of the object properties works independent from the scene materials.

Re: uv materials

Never tried this, but how about copying the material, change the uv setting and applying it during animation?
