Re: Wishes and bug fixes

Good summation of most of the bugs I encounter daily here by Alex, so I'll add myself as a +1 to this post :)

Re: Warping/teleporting to a point when selecting it.

For animation, you can do a quick movement of the character and possibly camera to the seat. If you 'followed' the character with the camera, you would feel as if the character had warped to the new location. IN VR there is the ability to place markers for jumping to and from with hand controllers t...

Re: Rendering speed and Rendering-Farm

Just a quick comment - If your renderings for a video are taking so long, it might be worth dialling back the settings a little. In a video you don't have to render everything up for every frame the way you would for a still. When I render for a video, I decrease the number of samples to around a qu...

Re: Texture Quality - Object Edges are not smooth (Round appears as octagon)

I too don't have access to Solidedge anymore, but in Solidworks there is a slider for 'curve quality' which does the same thing as Burrman is describing for Solidedge. There is a 'per part' setting - which dramatically increases the file size and a 'graphics' setting which affects how the part is vi...

Re: Texture Quality - Object Edges are not smooth (Round appears as octagon)

Simlab isn't a parasolid software it's a mesh software. Mesh's are triangles and the software will always interpret a parasolid in meshes. I have the same effect with solidworks reading straight in to Simlab, but I realise it's a limitation of the format being imported. If you import your Solidedge ...

Re: Texture Quality - Object Edges are not smooth (Round appears as octagon)

Looks very like the triangulation on the mesh is too large. I think the answer to this will be in the export settings of whatever CAD program you've created the file in. Simlab is a mesh rendering software and not a CAD system, and as a mesh is made up of triangles, you will always see some faceting...

Re: Linking objects for animation?

Hi Larz2, Yes you're quite right it is by moving the 'handle' to have the 'door' as the parent that they will move together when the top level door assembly is pivoted around the hinge that they will move as one. If you're having trouble dragging - try creating a new parent and then dragging the doo...

Re: camera problems

Hi etxe, One thing I always do that saves me confusing cameras in animation is I name one camera 'animations' and make sure that that's the camera I view through whenever setting up the animations. Otherwise it's very easy to set up through one camera and animate with another, hence you think it's r...

Re: Loading time of 11 minutes

That refers on many factors, one depends on the operating system itself and the number of applications that read/write (Disk Utilization) at the same time. For faster read/write operations, users often go to replace their mechanical hard disk drives (HDD) with solid state drives (SSD) or even NVMe ...

Re: Creating a WebGL VR from Template

Perhaps simlab could prepare a 'benchmark' file to aid diagnostics of problems - perhaps their Kitchen? Then we could download and benchmark PC versus Mac and see if it's an issue with the Mac version. How large is your classroom file Tessla?
