Sine Motion function

Postby Theodvs26 » Wed Feb 14, 2018 11:22 am

Hallo everyone,

I have a question concerning prismatic joints.
If i want to have an object repeatedly move back and forth( or up and down, with zero gravity influence), the only function i found was the Sine motor function. The problem is that well the movement follows the sine curve, it is not linear. It will work for very small amplitudes but if you start increasing the amplitude it becomes visible.
Any suggestion how to enable a linear curve back and forth motion? :)
thanks!
Teo

Teo,

You can achive this by using a sequence.

In the attached sim file, I created a sequence of 4 ramp functions

init value = 0, slope = 1, duration = 1
init value = 1, slope = -1, duration = 1
init value = 0, slope = 1, duration = 1
init value = 1, slope = -1, duration = 1

This is shown in the following image

Thanks, i get it now!
only problem is if i want many seconds i need to write a lot of ramps.
I think it will make sense then to copy keyframes when i am in the animation window. How can i copy multiple keyframes in one go? Even if i select all it copies only the last one.

You should be able to select a number of keyframes, click on copy and move, this should work.
