white border around objects

Postby jeant408 » Tue Feb 13, 2018 4:05 pm

Hello everybody, ... I am facing a strange issue on rendering with a background image.
There is a thin white line around all scene elements. (see attachment).
This white line disapears when choosing "spherical" background or "from environment" background.
I had never noticed this white line until now as in general I use a white background.
Can somebody help me to get rid of this white line around elements?
Thank you very much in advance !
Jean-Christophe

Hello Jean,

please try a different ration between gamma and the environment light.
I guess your environment is to bright.

Try these settings:

Image Effects
Gamma 1,0
brightness 5,0

Environment
Brightness 2,5

Best regards ;)

Hello Alex,
Thank you very much for your kind answer and advices.
... I tried the settings you gave me, but it doesn't really make a difference.
I noted that the white line appears when there is a defined contrast between the object and the background colors.
When the contrast is high, there is no problem
When the contrast is very low, the white line appears. This is very strange.
When the background is set to "environement, the problem disapears. (no white line).
Any other idea?
best regards,
Jean-Christophe

Your issue is White Light.. In Photography it would be the White Balance.. Alex is right.. Try changing the colour of your lights to darker.. Even try black... Did you try different Environments too...

Hello Jean,

I have tried it with two options:

first image with
Image Effects
Gamma 1,0
brightness 5,0

Environment
Brightness 2,5

Tisch1948.jpg

second has the following settings
Image Effects
Gamma 1,0
brightness 1,0

Environment
Brightness 8

Tisch1952.jpg

Otherwise can you please upload a sample scene? I would like to look into it :)

Alex, Destiny,
Thank you !! it works ! :-)
You were perfectly wright :-) it was a question of balance between light of environement and light of image.
Thanks a lot to both of you. :-) (see the result on the screen-shot).

I am now facing another problem (concerning render time), ... but I will create a new post. (maybe you will be able to help me once more :-)).

Very best regards,
Jean-Christophe

Thats good.. I notice you are rendering a metal frame. You might want to consider using the VR options to view it as if standing within the frame. That might be beneficial to you..
