misaligned / turned texture

Post by Alex » Sat Feb 29, 2020 12:36 pm

Hello simlabteam,

i currently try to model and visualize road situation for our local bicycle ngo.
Therefore i created some custom textures. Everything works great, except the one of the texture is turned 90 degree.
I made a small excerpt of the whole model. One texture is the bicycle lane and it is aligned correctly, the other one looks good in rhino and the preview too. But once it is rendered, the texture is turned 90° and looks compressed.

Export from rhino -> to simlab via export plugin produced the artifact
Direct import of the rhino file within simlab has the same effect.

There is a zip file containing the simlab file, rhino file and my two textures

Maybe you can help me identify the origin of the problem. Thank you! :)

I did a quick test and got the same issue you are seeing.

In my next file I saved the image as PNG and re-did the testing and it worked fine as you can see in the attached image
render.png
This means texture coordinates are fine.

So this is a workaround until we check why this happened with the original images.

Hi..

Not sure if I am on the same page with this.. But... Try this.. Click on the object with the texture added.. Then open the UV tab to open the UV Panel.. Click Run.. Then go to the MOVE / ROTATE.. Because you have selected the object then the UV, the move, scale and rotate tools now work with the texture.. After your texture looks OK, click the green tick.. See screen shot.. I rotated the texture 90 degrees then scaled it to fit.. You will see a yellow boundary box to adjust..

Sry for the late answer, i was on vacation.

Thank you, the workaround saving the texture as png works! :)
