General Information

Postby nicoberna » Sat Feb 24, 2018 5:06 pm

Hi everybody!

I'm new and i'm taking the firsts steps in the VR world and i hope you will help me!
i want to know if this program Can simulate the animation of a machine controlled by a remote controller.

Now i will show how it works.
With a remote controller the operetor can control several hydraulic cylinder, this remote is composed by:
1_ a turnable switch (Position 1 control Cylinder 1, Position 2 control Cylinder 2, etc)
2_one or two levers control the extend or shorten (and other movimentations) of the selected cylinder

First question is: i need to know if this controller can be placed in foreground?
Then i think is possible to extend/shorten the cylinder 1 by the lever but, if i turn the switch on position 2, can i extend/shorten the cylinder 2??

I'm sorry form my english, i hope everything is comprensible.
I attach an image of the remote controller.

anyway can someone suggest me some tutorial or "book" to understend better the program in addition of what i can find on
youtube??

Thanks in advance!
N.

Hi everybody,
Someone can help me to find a way to control the interactive vr via keyboard and not via joysticks?
In the tutorials i find only the indication to set the joistick.

If i start the interactive vr and I push the letter on the keyboard that have an association with a movimentation nothing happen!

For exemple i have set to the letter "X" as the extension of a cylinder but this don't happen in interactive vr. it works if i use the simple interatctive animation.

Thanks!

VR viewer takes control of the keyboard.

At this point you need to have an XBOX 1 controller to run co-simulation with composer

@nicoberna,

SimLab VR Viewer, in VR mode, supports HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

Best regards

Another option is SimLab Mixed reality sets, info about using Mixed reality with SimLab Composer can be found here

I believe at this point HTC vive is the best option, followed by Oculus Rift.

Thank you both for the answers! at the moment is out of budget!!!!

Another question..can you suggest me a way to have a faster model?
My assembly is composed bay more than 3000 parts and every one is a welded element (so simlab recognize many "under-parts") when I try to move it is very very slow, many lags! what can i do in your opinion??
i read in the "break" menu(if I'm not wrong) "fondi material" in italian (i don't know how is translated in the en version!) maybe can help me?

You need to select the top level node in the tree, right click
Click Geometry
Then Click Merge on Materials

This will reduce the number of objects and make moving the object faster
