placing spotlight

Postby bombas » Sat Apr 21, 2018 10:27 am

Hi,
I have problems with pointing the spotlight to an object. I have learned that the only way to rotate the light is key 2.
That is an ancient way to place the lights. It takes a lot of work to adjust the lights.
It would be nice to be able to link the light to an object, so even in case of ananimatiom, the object always is lit properly.
Furthermore it would be nice if it possibel that oblects do not cast shadows.

While this is true, SimLab Composer takes care of the light in animation for you.

Simply let us assume you want to point a spot light on the front of a car.
Create light, rotate it to point on the front of the car.

Now from the tree drag this light and make it part of the car top level node.

Now when you move the car or do an animation, the light will follow and will point at the same spot in the model.

We had the request for lights not casting shadows, we should add it, but we currently allow you to stop casting shadows from a specific material as shown in the attached image.

I understand that usage may be different.

But, It still takes a lot of work to point out the lights in the first place..
