With the updated version of the plugin, Maya users on Mac OSX will have access to the functionality of the Maya plugin.

The Mac version of the plugin enables the user to import SketchUp, Rhino, U3D, 3D PDF, and 3DS directly to Maya.

It also enables the Maya user to export 3D PDF files directly from Maya.

The user can export current Maya model as a SimLab Archive File readable using the free application SimLab CAD Viewer on Windows and Mac.

More information about the plugin is available here.

So will this plugin allow me to open .ipt or .iam files on Mac Maya 2011, 2012, or 2013?

The plugin only imports Inventor, SolidEdge and SolidWorks directly on Windows.
If you have access to a Windows machine you can install 1 of the two versions you are entitled to as a user on a windows machine and the other one on a Mac.
Open Inventor files on Windows and Pack the scene to open it on Mac.
