That would be very nice to be able to integrate Solidworks 2015 files into Simlab Composer.. There are so many models at Grab CAD I am unable to use.. I am running out of good models to experiment with.. ;)

BTW.. Where is the list of accepted file formats.. ??

Desting,

Solidworks 2016 and prior are supporting on Windows.
The reason is that we are using some libraries from SolidWorks that are only available on Windows.

Destiny,

Did you get info on the SolidWorks educational version, looks like its under $100 from various sources? I know you are on a Mac but its possible to run (although not ideal) on a windows emulator like Parallels or Bootcamp.

Hi chrisd

Yes, I bought it a few years ago to try to learn... It cost a bit more than $100, Aus it cost about $208.. I need to buy it each year. https://store.solidworks.com/studentstore/default.php I did not get very far with learning it before my time was up.. I also tried 3D VIA Composer and managed to make basic models in Solidworks and bring them into 3D VIA.. That software has some really nice tools and I love the Gold and Silver for 3D PDFs, but that software is hugely expensive, even academic.. Yet it cannot do a fraction of what Simlab Composer can do.. I did manage to animate some pistons but it was awkward and took forever. Simlab Composer can do the same thing in minutes and cost a fraction of the price...

I can get all of the Auto Desk software for free, some of their software works on my Mac, including Maya 2016, which I have installed.. I haven't a clue how it works.. I used to have Bootcamp with my old iMac but I have not gone on the track with my new iMac.. I was going to install it but I had huge issues with my new iMac when I bought it. Very annoyed since I am still paying the loan off and will be for a few years, I thought I had bought a dud iMac. It turned out to be my Graphics Card.. I got the iMac with the highest end GC, but my issue turns out be compatibility with Yosemite OS X. Crazy Apple make a Mac which is not compatible with their own OS X.. I gave the Apple Tech Team a hard time about it. They finally reproduced my issue and updated the new El Capitan OS X before it was realised, and now it working great. So I might think about adding Bootcamp back. I can then download Solidworks files and turn them into STEP perhaps so I can work with them on my iMac...
