again about Model Tree

Postby eugend » Sat Feb 14, 2015 12:54 pm

Dear Developer,
I recently purchased the plugin "3D Sketchup to PDF" and I had the same problem, which is discussed on the forum 2 years.
Export Layers, components, objects in "Model Tree".
It seems that users want an option for this purpose and I think you need to do something about it.
Maybe technically, it is not easy to achieve, but you can find a middle ground, namely to be able to rename groups and objects in "Model Tree". This would be a compromise that would satisfy some demands.
I export to 3D PDF for customers who are not familiar with SketchUp. For them, it is confusing to see a "model tree" of which not understand anything.
Model tree is useful that you can select / deselect what you want to see.
I wait with hope a update for this purpose.
Thank for understanding.

We thought about this, the issue was providing an easy and clear GUI for allowing the user to arrange the tree.
So our decision was the following:
1- You can use the plugin to use the information as they are in SketchUp
2- Use SimLab Composer which allows you to rename object in the tree and re-arrange it if needed.

SimLab Composer is very easy to use and is capable of reading SKP files directly.
