Perspective Match
Any thoughts for future updates to have a perspective match tool, much like artlantis site insertion or sketchup photo match? Just a though for us Archviz guys. This would be a very useful add and help the program get in front of more design firms that need this option.
Re: Perspective Match
I am not familiar with this , can you please describe what is needed exactly??
Re: Perspective Match
Basically a plane with 90 deg corner(s) is identified in the photo. The software figures out the matching camera data in order to place objects in the photo.
Somehow this info is interpreted from how the points identified in the photo would map to a planar surface.
EDIT - Just want to add that the points are usually identified on a horizontal or vertical surface.

Re: Perspective Match
That is exactly correct. We use this to insert a building into a site photo etc. If simlab had this option i would be able to drop other software completely.
If you look at how sketchup. 3ds max and artlantis do this you will get the idea.

Re: Perspective Match
I am glad I asked, in the first look I thought you are looking for a texture coordinates generation tool, to place a texture from photo to a plane object.
Now it is clear, you are looking for a tool to determine the correct camera to place a 3D object in a photo.
I will make sure to communicate this to development team it should not be difficult to add this feature.

Re: Perspective Match
Has this functionality been added yet? 2 years later.
Re: Perspective Match
Hello Dan - I'll add myself as a +1 on this - I had taken out a separate new functionality request for the same thing. Basicaly just looking for something to match the camera angle to a backplate image as is present in Keyshot, Bunkspeed, Visualize etc.

Re: Perspective Match
And I will add my support for this feature. This would be of huge value to our workflow.
Re: Perspective Match
Hmmm. hadn't heard anything from Simlab yet - guess they're busy with their new release, so decided to try something. I created a 'Perspective room' and applied a material with an opacity mask to produce a visible grid in the rendering window, net result I can adjust the camera to the backplate and lock the camera (or note the figures) and apply to the imported model. Then I just hide the perspective grid before taking a final render.
Screenshot of the grid over a backplate once the camera has been adjusted to match the room:
Unfortunately the forum won't let me share the 'spk' packaged 3D model which I've now saved as a model in my library so I can just drop it in as the first thing I do when starting a project - but if anyone wants it PM me.
