In general, SL's UV tool is good. Only few problem: this tool is not intuitive enough, result is sometimes not predictable, not correct cylinder mapping. If I use a normal texture without color texture, then it is generally impossible to control. The result can be seen only in real-time rendering mode.
Facitus: UV settings with SL is long and boring pastime with unpredictable results. I mean complicated 3d shapes without a UV mapping. Below is an example of a quick and intuitive mapping.
