Shame!. Is this an FBX restriction or something else??

Hey there Simlab.. Love the fact that FBX animated objects can be added into a 3D VR.. So, us being us, we like to push the boundaries to see what might be possible.. We have Poser, where we can add a 3D model and make it talk.. Its works fine, so we exported it into Simlab Composer.. There is no name for the Sequence, but if we play it, the head and eyes do move in the motion of talking.. But shame the lips do not move. There is no audio ether. We expected an issue with the audio since Composer has many restrictions in this.. But if we could have gotten the lips to move, we could have added the audio as a second multi function and hoped that the audio matched the lips animation.. No point in trying this since there is no lip movement... We do not have any other software that can create a Lip Synch character. I know there are users here and perhaps Simlab too, has a Maya expert who can share a talking 3D character to test.. You can also test for yourselves. Having the option to add talking characters into a 3D VR would be absolutely awesome..But, will it work??? We managed to create our audio in a bit of a sneaky way.. We typed the text we wanted the character to say, in OneNote.. Then pressed the record button in Adobe Audition. We can chose between a guy or girls voice. After we recored the voice, we just cropped off the silent parts.. Then added that audio to the 3D model. It works great. Nice digital sound. Technology in this area has come a long long way.. But now we have to see if the issue is Poser, or perhaps it will work using software like Maya... It would be great to try, but we do not have any Maya talking characters. We can provide the audio if needed..

Perhaps some users hear is using a different software.. As long as we can test out an FBX, thats all we need to do. It might not be possible with any software but at least we can try..

We are pretty certain that the FBX file we imported into a VR from Poser, is the issue. We downloaded the Education version of Cinema 4D, and the same thing happens. The eyes move and the head bobs a bit.. But no lip movements .. So perhaps the issues is that the Poser Lip Synch option does not allow for the object to be exported with all the mouth movements.. Real shame that Mimic will not work with the Poser anymore..We are unable to test that option. Nothing works thats old.. Some companies have created amazing software, but then they are gone.. Lack of support I guess.

I guess this is good news, that there is still hope for a talking character to work in a VR.. Can you imagine the possibilities!! But we do not know how to create such advanced stuff ourselves.. We can download Maya, but we have no idea how to use it... Our limitations and excitement end with that software is adding real looking fur to a ball..

So, who out there has a talking FBX character to share..???

Hey.. We think we worked out that Simlab Composer FBX will allow animated 3D models to be imported that have been animated using Bones/Rigging.. However, FBX will not export Morphing.. And that is what talking is.. Its not a Simlab Composer restriction, but rather a FBX restriction.. As we understand it..
