SimLab VR on Oculus go

Post by SimLab » Sun Aug 18, 2019 4:21 pm

We started beta testing for SimLab VR Viewer on Oculus GO.

To participate you need to get an invitation beta key from us.

Simply send a request for a beta key to support@simlab-soft.com

Keys can be redeemed using Android mobile or web browser on the Desktop.

Log in to your Oculus GO account, then redeem the key you received.

Now when you log in to Oculuse GO, you will find SimLab VR Viewer in the uninstalled app.

Install it and enjoy.

We are looking forward for your feedback.

Hi,
I've successfully redeemed the code and installed the VR Viewer on my Oculus Go. I have connected my Oculus Go (on Windows 10) and transferred a couple of my .vrpackage files to the device in the Downloads folder.

I launch VRViewer on the Oculus, select the "VR" tab, and select "add model", and navigate to the Downloads folder, the .vrpackage files are there, but grayed out and I can't select any of them.

What am I doing wrong? This happens whether I put my Oculus Go in Developer mode or not. I've restarted the Oculus a number of times.

Thanks,
Steve

I managed to transfer files to the app by following steps of the following video:

Thanks for your reply. It looks like I have to create a "SimLab" folder, then copy the .vrpackage files there.

I've created a SimLab folder and copied my .vrpackage files there. Still nothing but the default 3D experiences show up in the app. If I try to add a 3D model, and navigate to the new SimLab folder I created, the files are listed there, but are grayed out, and I can't select them.

I re-installed the SimLab VR Viewer app on the Oculus Go and everything works now. For large, complex models it is a bit slow and laggy, but I will work to optimize the models. Otherwise, the interface is very similar to the tethered VR experience on an HTC Vive.

This really brings interactive 3D VR experiences to a new set of users!

The difference between 3DOF and 6DOF becomes VERY apparent with the Go. ;)

You are absolutely right about 3DOF and 6DOF.

Oculus Quest solves the problem and our great VR developers are working on adding support for Oculus Quest.

But even with that, Oculus GO is still good for many VR experience. :D

Great port of the The simlab composer viewer to oculus go!
It is (almost) all that I hoped for.

I guess I ow you some feedback:

- Browsing with the touch disk on the GO controller is a bit difficult (perhaps it is the fault of my controller) , a slider in the menu would be great.
- an option to choose walk instead of teleport would be awesome! (like they have in altspace.
- I hope that you will make a connection to a dropbox folder , this would be awsome also.
- Very large models are a bot "laggy" but for the most scenes works great!

greetings, Rob
